My Extraordinary Experiences In Argentine State Owned Banks – Part Three
Today I had yet another extraordinary experience in Banco Provincia, Av. Maipu, Olivos.
As I’ve already mentioned, I pay cheques into these banks for one client and following the bizarre experience at Banco Nacion, Olivos I now only pay cheques for that bank in the San Isidro branch, which so far has not annoyed me.
I should point out that in August I became a client of Banco Provincia which I thought might help when taking a number and queueing for the cashiers. Sadly, that’s not the case, but fortunately my number was called in less then ten minutes, so I handed the cashier the cheque and associated paperwork with a ‘Good morning’ etc. He didn’t even reply or acknowledge my existence.
When facing the cashier, behind me is a shelf for sorting papers. I always place mine there with my motorcycle helmet and usually lean against it instead of against the cashier window. He didn’t like that, nodded for me to come closer and I asked him why. He told me that I might be sizing up the cashier windows (for a possible robbery), but he put it to me in a nasty way, so I asked him what he was talking about, telling him that I didn’t like his attitude. At this he became incredibly defensive and aggressive at which I again asked him not to talk to a bank client in that manner. He replied that it didn’t matter if I was a client or not, those are the rules.
I then told him to go fuck himself very loudly in English, at which, two security blokes turned up and told me to speak in Spanish, so I did and told them all how rude I thought they all were. I then said the same to the people seated and waiting as I stomped out, with most nodding agreement. I should point out here that I have had the same bad treatment from every single aggressive, couldn’t-give-a-shit cashier in that bank for around four years and I’ve had enough. I will try the San Isidro branch of Banco Provincia again and if the same happens, the client will have to find someone else to deposit their cheques.
I will never go into that branch ever again and am taking my account elsewhere, before something serious happens.
